On the evening of 2 September 2026, settlers under military protection entered al-Mughayyir, raided homes and stole sheep, according to the village council and Al-Quds. When residents confronted them, two young men, Omar Mohammed Naasan, 19, and Khalil Abu Alia, 16, were shot and later died. Al Jazeera and Al-Quds, citing village sources, attribute the gunfire to Israeli soldiers, including snipers on rooftops.
