Settlers set up an outpost on Sinjil land. When residents went to drive them out, settlers stoned them, one fired at them, and about 80 more settlers arrived. The settlers chased residents toward the town, burned a Bedouin tent compound, stole sheep and set fire to a farm shed. Wael Ghafri, 48, was shot at but not hit and was pushed by a soldier with a rifle butt. He then entered his family's burning shed and suffered smoke inhalation. He died of a heart attack in hospital the same day.
