On 12 April 2024, during the search for a missing 14-year-old Israeli, settlers raided al-Mughayyir, setting homes and vehicles on fire; footage showed burning cars while the army failed to gain control. Jihad (Jehad) Abu Alia, 25-26, was shot dead and about 25 people were injured; it is unclear whether settlers or soldiers fired the fatal shot.
