Last families of Ras al-Tin leave after settler violence

Blocking accessNo arrestsAwaiting review

On 8 August 2023 the remaining families of the Area C herding community of Ras al-Tin dismantled their homes and left: 89 people from 12 households, including 39 children. Residents cited violence and intimidation by Israeli settlers and shrinking grazing land. OCHA attributes the departure to an accumulation of settler violence, demolitions, harassment and other coercive measures. About 100 people had already left in July 2022, and in July 2021 Israeli forces confiscated 49 structures there. The community, once about 240 people, now stands empty.
