At about 8 p.m. on 21 June 2023, about 200 settlers attacked homes in Urif's a-Safafir neighbourhood with stones, injuring an 18-year-old. They returned with soldiers present, tried to set the mosque on fire, threw Qurans into the street and damaged homes, then retreated toward Yitzhar. School security cameras recorded two settlers setting a classroom alight. Soldiers fired at residents, and a 60-year-old woman was shot in the hand inside her home.
