On 22 May 2023 the herding community of Ein Samiya began dismantling its homes and leaving after a series of settler attacks: in the preceding days settlers stoned homes at night, raided houses, blocked the access roads, beat people walking on the road and stole livestock, including 37 animals taken about five days earlier when a shepherd was beaten. OCHA recorded 26 households (132 people, 68 children) leaving on 22 May. Israeli authorities had also repeatedly demolished structures and threatened to demolish the school.
