On 13 October 2022, two days after an Israeli soldier was killed near Shavei Shomron and while the Nablus area was under closure, dozens of settlers from Yitzhar, some armed with batons, entered Huwara. Footage reported by the Times of Israel showed soldiers alongside the settlers during the attacks and one soldier firing into the air; settlers hit people with clubs and smashed vehicles. B'Tselem documented settlers escorted by soldiers stoning a family home and cars that afternoon without the soldiers intervening. No casualty figures were given.
